O guitarrista do aclamado grupo The Rite of Trio, lanc\u0327a o seu segundo a\u0301lbum, materializando por m um projecto que estava em construc\u0327a\u0303o ha\u0301 cerca de seis anos. <\/span>Mt. Meru<\/span><\/i> e\u0301 uma quimera com propriedades do universo do jazz e da mu\u0301sica contempora\u0302nea de ca\u0302mara. Com uma instrumentac\u0327a\u0303o pouco usual neste meio, Andre\u0301 expande um conceito que tem trabalhado nos seus va\u0301rios projectos: longos trechos de mu\u0301sica escrita e orquestrada pelos va\u0301rios instrumentos, intercalados com momentos de improvisac\u0327a\u0303o por parte dos mu\u0301sicos brilhantes que o acompanham.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

O super-grupo de mu\u0301sicos que entraram nesta viagem com Andr\u00e9 B. Silva ao cume do Mt. Meru, a saber: Jose\u0301 Soares no saxofone alto, Raquel Reis no violoncelo, Sophie Bernado no Fagote, Paulo Bernardino no clarinete baixo, Andre\u0301 Carvalho no contrabaixo e Ricardo Coelho na bateria e percussa\u0303o.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

The classical precision of Silva’s compositions does lend a certain austerity to the music. But the lovely folk-like melody of the album’s closer, “Meditac\u0327a\u0303o da Montanha,” is quite charming. And the measured exuberance of a piece like “5:06,” with its insistent rhythm and animated solo from alto saxophonist Soares, illustrates Silva’s ongoing engagement with the jazz tradition, keeping the music from becoming too otherworldly in its quest for transcendence. \u2013 <\/span>All About Jazz<\/span><\/i><\/p>
